My Idolatrous Grandpa

A grandfather is someone with silver in his hair and gold in his heart, there could not have been a better quote which could have described my grandpa the way this quote does. He was a selfless person and had such a big heart that he could bring light to a lifeless persons life.

He took to his heavenly abode quite some time back but his personality was so charming that it is impossible for me to forget him. Its is truly said that true and pure souls take the heavenly aboard in the early stages of their life and a perfect example of this was my loving and benevolent GRANDPA.

In my entire childhood it was my grandparents who took care of me throughout and who played a crucial role in bringing me up and satisfying all my childish needs. This was because my mom had got a job in a neighbouring city which was quite far away and it would be very tedious to make a back-and-forth trip. So, since I spent a majority of my childhood with my grandparents, i was more close to them than my parents and especially my tender GRANDPA.

I have had so many joyful and memorable moments with my grandfather. Every day after coming back from work he would at times forget to bring the daily grocery but he never forgot to bring me one chocolate everyday. As i have mentioned in almost every sentence he was immensely loving and caring and was a gem of a person.

I still remember the day when it was my birthday and my grandfather had gifted me a sketch pen set as both him and I were very fond of art. It was then that my mother told me something which had touched my heart deeply. She said that in all these years my grandfather had never bought a present for her but it was for me that he bought a present for the very first time. After this our relation grew rock solid.

My grandfather was always fun to be around and was very humorous. I think it was from him that i have gained the family streak of being funny and making others laugh irrelevant of how circumstances were in his life. He too like me loved cracking jokes and playing silly and stupid pranks which surely would bring a smile even on Hitler's face.

He was also a very social and mixed with everyone; not only humans but even animals.  He religiously fed the stray dogs everyday either with left overs or bought bread or biscuits specially for them.

More than spending time with my friends and going out I would always prefer sitting with my grandpa and even having a general chat or do art with him. He was definitely my best friend.

I haven't ever seen a person as Gentlemen-like and as loving, caring and humorous as my grandfather and I think I never will ever again. He was and always will be my role model and there is nothing that can replace him and the presence he created in my life. I know that he must be definitely watching me from high above. I miss you and LOVE you GRANDPA.

  1. Please note that the term "idolatrous" is pejorative, kind-of like the difference between "grand" and "grandiose". A replacement word would be suitable, in this case.

  2. After people are physically gone, they live on in their work, our memories and our hearts.
